Description
Summary:The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE) was a world's fair held in Seattle to publicize the development of the Pacific Northwest. The fairgrounds were designed by the Omsted Brothers landscape architecture firm and located on the campus of the University of Washington. This photo shows the Hoo Hoo House Building, with Lake Washington in the distance. The International Concatenated Order of Hoo-Hoo is a fraternal and service organization whose members are involved in the forests products industry. This building was designed for the Order by Ellsworth Storey, and after the fair served as the University of Washington faculty club until the mid-1950s. Frank H. Nowell (1864-1950) was the official photographer of the AYPE, and his photographs were displayed at the fair and used in many official publications. 1 glass negative: b&w; 8 x 10 in.
