This photo shows the Miocene Ditch Company's hydraulic mining operations at Glacier Creek, near Nome. A high powered stream of water gouges away the creek bank, washing the pay dirt into the bottom of the pit. The damage to the original environment is considerable. Original title: Price Bro's. claim.
