This photo shows a group of Nome hunters, a hunting dog, and their catch of ptarmigan. They are resting in front of a sod-covered building. The photo was probably taken sometime between 1899 and 1906. The thick sod would have insulated the inside of the building from the bitter cold. 1 photographic print mounted on cardboard : gelatin, b&w; 18 x 23 cm.
