Description
Summary:In the 1930s, the undeveloped area north of Seattle near present day Lake City was home to six riding academies including a number of polo fields. One of those was the Olympic Riding and Driving Club, located east of 15th NE, across the street from Jackson Park Municipal Golf Course, which opened in 1930. Jackson Park is one of the remaining green spaces left in the area from this rural legacy. The Olympic Riding and Driving Club is also remembered as the place where humorist Will Rogers and aviator Wiley Post took their last ride in 1935 before their deaths in a plane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska.
