Description
Summary:Frank Calvert (1876-1920) was an illustrator for the Seattle Times, a painter, and a member of the Society of Beaux Arts, which was established "to develop art and its appreciation here in the Northwest." In 1908, he helped create and develop an art colony in the Bellevue area on the eastern shores of Lake Washington, and the City of Beaux Arts Village still exists today. John Edward "Ed" Chilberg (1867-1954) was a prominent Seattle businessman and he was instrumental in bringing Seattle's first world's fair, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, to this city in 1909. This portrait was given to Mrs. Chilberg by the managing editor of the Seattle Times, C.B. Blethen, in appreciation of John Chilberg's successful work on the Exposition. 1 Print, Photographic; Materials: paper; Dimensions: Art: 19.5 in.H x 11.1 in.W Frame: 25.4 in.H x 17 in.W
