Description
Summary:The Golden Potlatch a summer festival held in Seattle from 1911 through 1914. Organized by city boosters, it was designed to promote business interests and keep newly-prosperous Seattle in the public eye after the Alaskan gold rush and the success of the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. The week-long festival included concerts, parades, and aircraft and boat demonstrations. Seattle's annual Seafair celebrations each July continue the Potlatch tradition. The souvenir pictured here was made by the Kelley Clarke Company to promote the 1912 festival, and contains information about the canned salmon industry in Seattle. 1 folded souvenir; 4.5 x 10.25 in.
