Summary:Snowmobiles crossing a frozen lake. Louis Kirk, in voiceover, describes going 40 miles downriver to do some snowmobile logging near the archaeological site of Onion Portage. Two snowmobiles traveling on path, up hills. Men cut logs and load them onto sleds pulled by snowmobiles. Louis describes the logging process, using snowmobiles for work purposes. The trip is with, Shield Downey an older man and esteemed hunter from the village, who had been working on the winter road and was staying at a camp 20 miles from the village. They travel by snowmobile on a road funded by the Alaska State Highway Department, a route laid out and marked by poles leaning together as tripods.
