Summary: | This is a blow up of the Mayak site showing the contaminated reservoirs, but what it shows more than anything else is where the Techa River leaves these reservoirs and that goes up to the Arctic Ocean. That is the spot where they dump the radioactivity into the Techa River. The other thing about this is that it shows Lake Karachai over to the extreme left. This is a lake where they dumped the material in and the radiation levels on the shore of that lake are around 600 Rads per hour of radiation, which is extremely high. You would receive a lethal dose of radiation in approximately half an hour to an hour so it is a very radioactive site. This is near the Mayak complex where they had just dumped it into these reservoirs and into that lake as well as the Techa River. |
