Laube was born May 1883 in Wisconsin. He was married to Ethel L., born September 1883 in Illinois. In 1910, they were living at Treadwell and he was working as an assayer. Baranof Island is 105 miles long and is located between the Alexander Archipeligo and Chatham Strait. It was named in 1805 for Alexander Adreievich Baranov, the first Governor of the Russian American colonies.
