| Summary: | The problem of military security in Eastern Europe did not lose its relevance immediately after the collapse of the USSR. It was partially resolved due to the accession of the Visegrad Group countries and the Baltic countries to the North Atlantic Alliance, but Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine remained unprotected. Belarus, led by the country's pro-Russian president O. Lukashenko, was actually absorbed by Russia at the end of the 90s of the 20th century, Moldova was under the supervision of Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria from 1992, and Ukraine, since the beginning of independence, had on its territory Russia's Black Sea Fleet, however, did not want to submit to its influence. Since 2003, when the Russian-Ukrainian conflict over Tuzla Island took place, Ukraine has openly resisted. Aware that Ukraine alone will not be able to free itself from the shackles of Russia, the Ukrainian authorities tried in every way to keep the path to NATO, on which LytPolUkrbrig became, according to the words of the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, the first swallow. But this path has not yet been overcome. For Ukraine, in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it is extremely important to continue to maintain and develop friendly military relations with LytPolUkrbrig, which continues to train Ukrainian units and improve their training by participating in various military exercises according to NATO standards, which undoubtedly contributes to our joint victory over the ridges. The Russian-Ukrainian war continues, therefore, the study of the issue of LytPolUkrbrig acquires considerable relevance. The article examines the historical path of formation of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade, its functioning before and after the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, and possible prospects for the brigade's development are proposed.
