| Summary: | The struggle against terrorism requires use of national and international mechanisms, which are actively used today in the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. The importance of studying the role of NATO as an international organization in the modern system of combating international terrorism is unquestionable, since it is about the fight against the most dangerous threats to the peace and security of mankind. Having accumulated evidence in various areas of security, NATO makes a significant contribution to the fight against international terrorism. In addition to joint efforts, the member states of the Alliance are developing their own internal state policies to fight terrorism. The essence of this policy is aimed at satisfying, first of all, national, and only secondarily, all-Union or common goals of the alliance. This means that the political leadership of each country produces such a system of combat measures that take into account the national interests and own capabilities of the country, but at the same time countries must always take into account the anti-terrorist potential of the NATO system. The essence of the internal policy of NATO member states is that they can plan measures to combat international terrorism far beyond their own resource capabilities, since they can always involve the joint efforts of other NATO member states, or participate in already active programs and operations in fight against international terrorism. Therefore, it is relevant to study the current state and development trends of the struggle of the leading countries of the Alliance and NATO separately, as organizations, against international terrorism in the general system of struggle.
