| Summary: | We have performed an investigation of prevalence of the chronic respiratory diseases among workers employed at the enterprises of copper metallurgy located in different climatic regions in Russia and neighbor countries. An increased incidence of chronic bronchitis among the workers in the Far North was revealed. An important feature in this case was a combination of the high prevalence with the paucity of physical signs of the pulmonary abnormity. Проведено изучение распространенности хронической патологии органов дыхания среди рабочих, занятых на предприятиях металлургии меди, расположенных в разных климатических районах России и ближнего зарубежья. Выявлена повышенная частота хронических бронхитов у рабочих на Крайнем Севере, важной особенностью которых является сочетание высокой распространенности заболевания со скудностью физикальных проявлений легочной патологии.
