| Summary: | The article describes one of the first literary works of Komi linguist, historian and writer G. S. Lytkin named Tot'ma (1853) and belonging to the genre of the travel diary. The article focuses on the specific features of writing employed to form a positive image of a provincial city and region, as well as the peculiarities of perception of Russian space by a non-local writer. В статье рассмотрено одно из первых сочинений коми лингвиста, историка и писателя Г. С. Лыткина «Тотьма» (1853), написанное в жанре путевых заметок. В качестве исследовательской проблемы выдвинуты специфические черты текста, связанные с задачей положительной репрезентации провинциального города и региона, а также с рецепцией русского пространства писателем-инородцем.
