| Summary: | In recent years, Russia is characterised by a worsening economic situation, where the processes of recession and stagnation have been replacing each other since 2014. In 2020, coronavirus caused damage to the economy. From 2016–2017, a decline in the birth rate began in the country and its regions, primarily due to the age structure factor. At the same time, fertility is determined by reproductive behaviour, which largely depends on living conditions. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between the dynamics of the total fertility rate and the list of socio-economic indicators. It is hypothesised that the modern type of reproductive behaviour is characterised by rationalism, therefore, the negative changes in economic situation entail a decrease in birth rate. The study was based on linear correlation method. The research results show a significant link between fertility and the list of economic indicators, which were included in analysis. Taking into account the new round of economic sanctions from 2022, the state will need to use a significant part of the financial reserves to support the population and create conditions for its saving. В последние годы в стране мы видим ухудшение экономической ситуации, процессы рецессии и стагнации сменяют друг друга с 2014 г. В 2020 г. удар по экономике нанес коронавирус. С 2016–2017 гг. в стране и ее регионах начался спад рождаемости, прежде всего, из-за фактора возрастной структуры. В то же время рождаемость определяет еще такой фактор, как репродуктивное поведение, которое тесно связано с условиями жизни. Поэтому целью исследования стало выявление связи динамики общего коэффициента рождаемости с перечнем социально-экономических индикаторов. Гипотеза: современный тип репродуктивного поведения характеризуется высокой рациональностью, поэтому негативные изменения в экономической ситуации влекут за собой снижение показателей рождаемости.
