Please have all dugouts and ponds filled prior to this date. 2 Trevor Panczak Update As noted before, Trevor competed at the Majestic Valley Arena north of Kalispell, Montana on August 3rd in the Colgate Country Showdown State Final. He won over 10 other singers to advance to the Dalles, Oregon on October 12, 2002. It will be held at the Granada Theatre. Trevor had just over 60 supporters in Kalispell in August. They whooped and hollered the loudest of all the supporters present. Thank you one and all who came to support him and to everyone who sent their best wishes. The Zeniths won in varsity action three games to zero, 25-20, 28-26, 25-18. Kate Andrews turned the tables in junior varsity competition on the Eagles 26-24, 28-26, 25-23. Playing for the Senior boys this year are: Russ Beazer, Matt Schmale, Riley Sabey, Chase Dahl, Brett Harris, Cam Smith, Allen Tollestrup and TJ Quinton. Junior boys are: Russ Beazer, Riley Sabey, Layne Gill, Nate Williams, Derek Blackmer, Russ Yoshihara, Dan Schow, TJ Quinton, Cory Jones, Brady Bogdan and Steven Taylor. Junior varsity play starts at 6:00 p.m. with the Senior varsity following at approximately 7:30. 4 Magrath Jr/Sr High School Parent Council has re-organized for the 2002-03 school year. The parent council members are as follows: Kris Alston (chairman), Scott Wolsey (vice­chair), Loni Harker (treasurer), Lorrie Smart (secretary), June Ririe (climate), Sheila Robinson (fund raising), Sandra Smith (sports). Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month. The school council would like to hear from parents and interested community members. CURLING Notice The Magrath Curling Club will be holding it’s annual opening meeting on Saturday, October 5th, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the club. This meeting is open to all members and potential members. FOOTBALL Wolverines Cruise Past Cardston Magrath Wolverines set up a .first-place batde with Raymond Comets in Southern Alberta Minor Football Association play tonight after a 42-7 victory over Cardston Cougars over the weekend. Magrath jumped to a 21-7 lead through one half of play then scored 22 unanswered points in the second half for the lopsided win. Jordan Smart had rushing touchdowns of 40 and 70 yards and Cole Barnett a running TD from 35 yards as well as a touchdown catch on a Raye Wilde pass from 15 yards out. Wilde added a 3-yard quarterback keeper for another major and Jordan Hook added the last TD on a 5-yard run. Smart completed the scoring with a 25-yard field goal and five converts.
