"Of all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, it might have been". - There is no good crying over spilt milk or lost opportunities. We recal being in Ids Angeles in 1915. We saw blocks of vacant lots down town for sale. Prices and descriptions of real estate.displayed wherever you looked. Had we have had a few hundred dollars and a little foresight, think of the millions one could have made. ' In the "dirty thirties" a Hudson Bay section was in a lease we had, price $2.50 per acre. We let it slide. We doubt if the roan who owns it today would sell for $75.00 an acre. We have to pass the land several times a year - that is what gives us a pain in the neck. Look at the other side of the picture. Think of the thousands of speculators who lost hundreds of millions in lfa.ll Street six months ago in the crash of the stock nw-Tlrgt. We have a sheep herder who works until he earns $1000.00 and loses it on the Calgary Stock Exchange during the winter. - "If a middle-aged man could only sell his experience for half what it cost him, he could retire in luxury". BANK OF MONTREAL UNIVERSITY PROGRAMME: Introduction of a combined savings and loan plan to spread costs of a four year university education over a period up to nine years and embodying full life-insurance protection, has been announced by G. Arnold Hart, spresident of the Bank of Montreal. The plan — to be known as the Bank of Montreal University Education Programme, will make it possible to finance college studies through modest monthly payments at substantially less cost than would be possible on straight loan basis. Under the plan a parent, guardian or sponsor will undertake to make monthly payments during a student*s last two, three or four years of high scyool, continuing through university and terminating a year after graduation. In return the parent will receive a lump sum at the start of each of the four university years with built-in life-insurance coverage throughout to guarantee funds even if the sponsor dies.
