EXPLOSIVE AMNESTY PROGRAM: Anyone in the area, having old or deteriorated explosives now has the opportunity to dispose of these items. Please contact the local RCMP Off­ice in order that these explosives may be disposed of. This Amnesty Program is in effect until March 31, 1990. There is no fee for this service. Our remodeling in the Magrath School Band Room is bearing completion and we are beginn­ing to take inventory of the school and band-owned equipment. It has come to our attention that several band instruments, uniform parts, sound system components, and other band items from years gone by are out there in closets or attic corners. Would you please conduct a search, and if you come across any such items, just drop them off at the school office (no need to be embarrased) just stack them by the door! Of course, if you have instruments you would care to donate, we would be happy to accept these as well. Even items that are in need of repair, or missing parts can often be used by us as trade ins for new equipment. Thanks for your support. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS 1. Ph. 758-6369 MINOR HOCKEY NEWS Wade’s Tadpoles took pari ’in tne Tadpole Tournament in Magrath during the Christmas holidays. We took pert on the Blue Side and managed to take third place. Overall we were, seventh out of eight, but we had a great time. On Thursday, December 28th we played Coaldale and cane up a little short, losing 9-7. Tanner Godionton led the way with 4 goals., Jimmy Balderson, Michael Verbitsky and Shane Miller each added one. Adam Mehew had 2 assists. Bryan Bullock and Peter Lee shared goal tending responsibil­ities. All the boys played very well and skated their little hearts out. Michael Verbitsky was the winner of the puck shoot­out. . On Friday, December 23th we played two games, the first was against Raymond B. At the end of regulation tine we were tied 8-8. a- speeding puck off the stick of a Raymond player sped past a sprawling Jrmny Balderson who played an excellent game in net. Goals: Tanner Godionton (3) Adam Mehew (2) Bryan Bullock, Shane Miller, Michael Robertson (1) each. Assists to Tanner God- lonton (3) Adam Mehew (3) Shane Miller (2). The shoot out was won by Bryan Bullock. Our second game against Cardston was a very tight, close game but unfortunately we lest 5-4. Michael Verbitsky's great goal tending helped to keep us in the game, especially those last 5 minutes. Goals: Tanner Godionton (3) Jimmy Balderson (1) The shoot out was won by Jimmy Balderson. Our final game Saturday against Raymond A was a totally different picture. Magrath was on the winning end of a 19-0 score with goals by Adam Mehew (6) Jimmy Balderson (4) Shane Miller (3) Tanner Godionton (3) Peter Lee (2) Shane Miller (2). Assists to Brad- ly Robertson (4) Ryan Nishikawa (3) Adam Mehew (2) Tanrer Godionton, Jimmy Balder­son, Michael Robertson and Seal: Stanford and Peter Lee each with 1. The entire team figured in the scoring - great! The shoot out was quite a show. Five players made 2 shots, two players made 3 shots but Shane Miller and his experience proved to be too much for Peter Lee who in all the other shoot offs hadn't even shot the puck to the board let alone through the hole! Goals: Tanner Godionton 7, Jimmy Balderson 1, Denver Wetherelt 1, one of our imports for the gate, our other im­port, Rhonda Strata had an assist. 1990 started out well as wel travell­ed to Pincher Creek on Saturday, January 6th and cams home with a. 13-5 win.Jimmy Balderson played goal for the first period with Bryan Bulloch, taking over for the fin­al two periods. Goals*- Adam Mehew /, Tanner Godionton 5, Jimmy Balderson 1 & 1 with an assist to Shane Miller. ATOM B: 1990 has been good to us so far with 2 ties in the 2 Exhibition games we played. Assists: Bart Bullock 2, Tommy Lee and Lome McKelvey 1 each. Next League Game - Saturday, January 13 when we travel to Vauxhall, 12:00 noon. On Saturday, January 6, Rod's Tadpoles played Cardsron. Cody Ririe opened the scor­ing with a goal and an assist. With a minute left Cardston was up by 1 goal when Dustin Ririe scored a goal and put it into overtime. After playing 5 minutes of overtime Dustin Ririe put in the. game-winning goal ending in a 7-6 score. Mason Dahl (1&2) Dustin Ririe (5&2) Braedcn Balderson 4 assists. One assist each to Stan Ringuette, Darren Severs and Rhonda Strafe. Chris C atwin did an outstand­ing job in net. The whole team played well and it was good to have Rhonda back. Magrath's New Year's Baby has arrived. Babv Layne Harris Nordquist made his appear­ance at the Magrath General Hospital on Thurs­day, January 4, 1990 at 11:40 a.m. He weigh­ed 8 lbs. 7 oz. and was 21.25 inches long. His parents, Neil and Renee Nordquist and six siblings welcome him into the new decade and into their family. ' Congratulations to the Nordquists. ALBERTA STARS -no, it's not a sport team - it is ALBERTA SHOCK TRAUMA AIR RESCUE SOCIETY - who is responsible for flying (by helicopter) emergency patients - whether , sickness or accident - to a Calgary hospital. This service was used three times iron Mag-rath in the last year. All personnel, except the pilot, are volunteers, so the pilot's fee and the fuel needed are the only expense. This is not government sponsored but depends on donations. The Magrath Hospital Auxiliary is donating $100.00 and challenges any indiv­iduals or organizations to meed this chall­enge.
