John Brackep^ leader of the Progressive Conservative; party, told the House of Commons that Canada's wheat contract with Britain cost Canadian farmers $123 million in 1947. He siad the government is keeping the price of wheat down and using this as an excuse to keep down the price of all farm products. He condemned the food contracts with 3ritain on the ground that Canadian farm products are now being sold for less than they can now be produced. Mr. Bracken also advocated the immediate removal of export embargoes on farm products. .The Budget. IT'S HELLER JERSEY Circular all-wool jersey that makes smart dresses. Guest. I shall not care what blunders you may make, What petty losses you may bid me share, I shall not fret about each amall mistake. Stay clean and manly and I shall not care. Shun all that's shameful. That is all I ask, When you depart let men be glad you came, Give all you can of courage to your task, Then if you fail, have failure free from shame, I would not bind you with parental chains, Nor have you think to please me you must / win, Fail if you must, and still my love remains, I only ask you not to stoop to sin. Use whst you have of judgment and of tact, With all men living keep your dealings true. Beware not blundering, but the shameful act. Further than this I would not counsel you. IN THE HARDWARE DEPT. One thing is certain they have no right or prerogative to speak for the tens of thousands of Western Producers. This was very evident Thursday night when the Rt. Hon. J. G. Gardiner to back up many of his crack-pot theinries claimed the "nod of approbation" from Western Co-operatives. Of approximately 500 ranchers and farmers present we don’t think dozen present agreed with ill-devised remarks. Britain this and Britain that wheezed through his moath-piece for four hours. The Western Producer today is paying the shot for his guessing. Even the Lethbridge Herald held its head in shame as he evaded, and side-stepped every question asked for. i THE STAKE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP PARTY I will be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. j All M.I.A. over 25 years are invited to attend.
