REMINDER: Magrath United Church Bazaar, Centre Village Mall this Thurs. Friday & Sat. A most enjoyable evening was had Thursday, October 23, 1980 by teachers, board members and division representatives of the Cardston School Div. as Magrath hosted the annual Fall Dinner and induction activities. M.C. for the evening was Mr. George Taylor. Prior to the lovely hot roast beef dinner prepared and served under the direction of the Magrath Band Parents Ass’n., 13 teachers were inducted into the A.T.A.- Heraldine Neilson, Nardene Broadhead, Vicky Woolf, Marsha Jensen, Dianne Quinton, Susan Leavitt, Cheryl Trudgeon, Joann Low, Laurol McClung, Burns Alston Robert Pankhurst, Steve Brockway, Richard Fox. While most of the above are new in the teaching profession, Mr. Steve Brockway, recently appointed band director in Magrath, hails from south of the border and is >a seasoned veteran. It was also very nice to see Richard Fox inducted; Hopefully, he will lead the way for many other Canadian Natives We wish all of them well and many rewarding years in this most important profession. Five retiring teachers were also honored by the Cardston School Board and the A.T.A. after many years of teaching service. Those leaving the profession (perhaps we should say leaving the area of classroom instruction, for I doubt these people will ever stop teaching) are: Ada Blackmore (who taught this writer in Grade 1 in 1941) Rose Edgmond, Laura Vadnais, Viola Blackmore, Lynn Beazer. Dessert was garnished with an excellent program displaying a portion of the tremendous talent within the local. The general feeling of the nearly 200 guests was an even ing well spent. Our special thanks to those who helped make it a success. G. Pilling, L.C.O. Among local Sc area cattlemen winning awards at the recent Rockytickets very Mountain Cattle Show were Rick Hillmer - reserve grand champion bull, which earlier was judged C reserve senior champion in the Maine-Anjou Show. In the Charolais Show, Circle J Charolais, Jorgenson Bros, of Del Bonita won the reserve grand champion female, earlier judged junior champion of the show. ******************************** THANK YOU: My sincerest thanks to Dr. Mark Dahl for all his years of services and care for Linda, but especially for being her friend and her comfort. I would also like to thank Bob West for being her bishop and her friend. Ruth Rollingson.
