It was a real "shocker" Saturday morning to awake and find a nasty snow storm in progress, which before the day ended, dumped 6 to 8 inches of snow in our Southern Alberta "Banana Belt" area. Golfers, who for the past several weeks, had enjoyed taking out their golf clubs and going for one, two yes, even three rounds of golf a ’ day, now had to take out their snow shovels and scoop off their driveways and sidewalks. Animals, both big and small, which had lain day after day enjoying the warm sun, hunched up against the unexpected icy chill of winter. It is hoped the shrubs, trees and flowers, which were beginning to stir to life with swollen buds and green appearing above the ground will not be hurt as yet, and will bide their time" until Spring really does appear. The past week, a rash of colds and !n^£fles have made their appearance both with children and adults. Maybe the colder weather will put things back to normal. ' This.Wednesday morning our low temperature was -15’C. A year ago on this date it was -32' C - so we are still in a so called "banana belt".
