Dust if you must, but there’s not much time, with rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead. Dust if you must, but the world’s out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in you hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around again. A single dream that grew to a world of hope. Never was that more evident than last year, during the 25th Anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope. The numbers are astounding—The Foundation is very pleased to announce that Run-related funds raised worldwide topped $36 million in the 25th Anniversary year. The year was capped off by the receipt of a $10 million grant from the Government of Canada. The grant was in recognition of the 25* anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope and the work of The Foundation to keep his dream alive of a cancer-free world. The Foundation is very excited and pleased to have engaged the Canadian cancer research community in discussions to determine what opportunities exist to best utilize the grant monies and surplus funds from the 25* anniversary year. We are confident that these resources will serve to reduce the cancer burden and improve the lives of those affected by the disease. We saw some interesting things in our Runs in Alberta, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. At BHP Billiton's Ekati Diamond Mine, they uncovered prehistoric wood samples, then asked people to make donations to Terry Fox They drew names and 100 winners went home with one of these coveted samples. The result^ More than $18,000 raised for cancer research, which was matched by the company for a total of more than $36,000. In Edmonton, Dave Thomas again challenged his Accenture team to raise more money than him. They did, and he had to sport a nice pair of new earrings as a result. Edmonton was challenged by Yellowknife to see who could increase their participant numbers the most It was close, but Edmonton won. In Calgary, longtime supporter and Terry's Team Member Don Cowie was surprised to find out that his entire family had flown in from all over to participate in the Run with him. And then there's Eeyore, the donkey, pictured below left. This four-legged Terry Fox supporter raised more than $800 for cancer research by participating in the Run in Sexsmith. Way to go, Eeyore. Could be the start of a new category of teams— farm animals united! Should be an interesting year. Top 10 Communities 1. CALGARY $301,269 2. EDMONTON $152,609 3. YELLOWKNIFE $95,436 4. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in. At last she said, "I sure wish I’d gotten to know you sooner!" When Tyler had a new sister, he became jealous of the attention she was getting. One day while his mother was nursing the baby, Tyler was getting adamant about being on mom's lap. Mom wasn't able to deal with both children at that time and told Tyler to go wait for her. He then asked his mom: "Mommy, can you please put Tara back in your tummy now?" A mother and her young son returned from the grocery store and began putting away the groceries. The boy opened the box of animal crackers and spread them all over the table. "What are you doing?” his mother asked. 'The box says you can't eat them if the seal is broken," the boy explained. "I'm looking for the seal." A man went to the store with his 3-year-old daughter in tow. Since he was just there to grab some essentials like milk and bread, he opted to save some time by not pushing a cart around the store. 'That's not the way Mommy does it," his daughter informed him. "I know, dear, but Daddy's way is OK, too," he replied. Leaving the store in the rain and without a cart, he carried the bag of groceries, his daughter, and the milk quickly to the car. Not wanting to set anything down on the wet ground, he set the jug of milk on top of the car, efficiently whisked open the car door with his now free hand, scooted the groceries in and set his daughter into the car seat in one swift motion. Then he hopped in himself. 'That's not the way Mommy does it," his daughter informed him again. "Honey, there's more than one way to do things," he replied patiently. "Daddy's way is OK, too." As they pulled out and headed down the street, he became aware of the scraping sound on the roof as the jug of milk slid down the length of the rooftop, bounced off the trunk of the car and splattered to the ground, sending a froth of white milk in every direction. In the millisecond he took to process his mistake, his young daughter looked at him, and in a most serious voice said, 'That's NOT the way Mommy does it."792-3600 or 1-877-792-3430 Shane, Larry, Darren or Lenny Truckload Salt Sale Cobalt Salt 25kg Block Purchase 40 or more (1 Skid) delivery to your farm is free. $5.45 ea or $218.00/skid Air Seeder Hose We have a quantity of 2 1/2” Air Seeder Hose in 100 foot rolls $2.79 per footPHOTOS FROM MILO COMMUNITY SCHOOL Easter Egg Hunt and Limbo Contest April 13 Right: Miriam Deitz shows her flexibility. A man owned a small farm in Alberta. The Alberta Department of Labour claimed he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to interview him. "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the agent. "Well" replied the farmer, "There's my hired hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $500 a week plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $400 per week plus free room and board. Then there's the half-wit who works here about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes $10 per week, and I buy him a bottle of whisky every Saturday night." "That's the guy I want to talk to — the halfwit," says the agent. "That would be me," replied the farmer.
