Wednesday, March 7 started off the playoffs for them with a win against No. 8 seeded Winston Churchill Bulldogs with a score of 99-69. Jimmy Balderson led the scoring with 28 points while Allen Tollestrup added 24 and Matt Harris 13. Thursday they played No. 5, Medicine Hat with a win of 69-57 that took them to the championship game on Friday night against the No. 3 ranked Cardston Cougars. The Zeniths were hot and there was no stopping them as they finished with a commanding score of 91-58 with Jimmy Balderson scoring 37 points and Allen Tollestrup having his best game of the season with 31 points. Eagles Second Place The Eagles played Cardston for the JV championship on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles enjoyed a 1 point lead at the half but Cardston was able to edge past them and win in the second half with a final score of 75-67. Dahlin Sabey led the scoring for the Eagles with 16 points while Dylan Alston and Brad Sorpold both scored 12. Kyle Clifton added 11. University of Alberta Pandas The University of Alberta Pandas in Edmonton took on the Regina Cougars for the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union or CI AU womens basketball championship last weekend. The Pandas defeated the Queens 70-62 to advance to the final game. Former Magrath Panda Diane Smith, daughter of Ricks & Sandra Smith, led the way with 23 points while former LCI Clipper Queen Erin Sandusky added 10 points. In the final game against Regina the Pandas were defeated with a score of 94-85. Diane Smith contributed 16 points to that game.
