Summer Games- To help this region celebrate its successful bid for the 1975 Winter Games, permission was given to have the torch tour area, It is felt that one of the main -ocisons that this area was successful in obtaining the 1975 Winter Games was because u the regional concept approach, This is ¿ae first time that such an approach was attempted, . A flag-raising ceremony, which will be carried out at the saye time as the Torch Parade, is our means of emphasizing the Regional Co-operation ,o,i posting the 1975 winter Games, Delegations from both the Federal and Provincial Governments will be at the cen­otaph to present the Games flag to Magrath to show bur involvment in the Winter Games. Of interest to a number of Magrath residents is the announcement of the passing on July Uth of Mr. Edwin Otto (Pete) Pedersen of Edmon-ton wh© passed’away in the Leduc Municipal Hospital in his 72nd year. He was born in Hetland, South Dakota coming to Wetaskiwin with his parents in 1902, later moving to' a homestead at loug-- heed in 1906, He had been associated with the Bank of Montreal for 44 years/ retir­ing in 1963 o * " ’• He had served the Bank in Grande Prairie, ■ Magrath, Thorsby, Tofield, and after retiring worked in the Branch at Rainbow Lake, ’ He was very active in community affair . proficient in hockey, golf, curling and baseball. He was a great musician playing in many bands and several*orchestras.
