Farewell Testimonial Services were held Sunday, December 31st in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel for Elder Wayne Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Harris, with Bishop R. Mark Dahl officiating. Mrs. Charlotte Fletcher presided at the organ and Mrs. Inez Gibb conducted the singing,, the opening song being "Far, Far Away on Judea’s Plain". Opening prayer was offered by David Taylor. Speakers for the service were Betty and Carlos Harris, their daughter Gloria Whitehead» Musical numbers were piano solos by Lucy Kadonaga and Beverly Harris« Closing remarks were given by Bob Whitehead, Elder Harris and Bishop Dahl. The closing hymn was "Till We Meet Again", Jam Cook offered the closing prayer, Wayne left Wednesday January 3rd for Salt Lake City to enter the Mission Home and left this Wednesday to serve a mission in Australia, During the Christmas holiday season twenty members of the Clyne Harker family spent an evening at the Harker home enjoying a lovely supper and family get-to-gether. Those present were Mr. and Mrs, N. T. Jackson and family of Stettler, Const, and Mrs. Fred Hayner and sort, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin harker of Lethbridge, Mrs. Karen Atwood and family of Magrath, and sons Merlin Harker of B.Y.U., Provo, Utah and Roy Harker of C.Cr.H«, Hawaii, The latter two have returned to B.Y.U, and Hawaii to continue their studies. Bom to Mr. and Mrs. George Harker of Edmonton a son, 7# 4 oz., bom January 5th. Grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. C, H, Carley of vernon, B.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Clyne Harker of Magrath. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Weing have had as their guest during the past five weeks her mother Mrs. Banyai of Hungary who also viol visited grandson John Weing, his ■wife and family. Mrs. Banyai left Monday by air for Kitchener, Ontario to visit a sister before returning to her home in Hungary. Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Witbeck, Jr., are the proud parents of a son, James Clayton, bom December 17th. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ted Witbeck of Raymond. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Moors of Magrath and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Finch of Lethbridge. Magrath Zeniths travelled to Raymond Friday night for a league basketball encounter with Raymond Comets. Zeniths defeated the Comets 44-43 in an excitement packed game. John Balderson paced the Zeniths with 13 points, Kim Karren added 10 to be the Zenith's two top men. Walter ZoBell netted 20 points in a losing cause. Mr, and Mrs. Fred Strate and Mr. and Mrs, Jim Ririe travelled to Great Falls, ?,;ontana during the weekend, anted by the formers' daughter Mrs, Mona Cluff and sons whd were returning to their home in Provo, Utah after spending the holiday season with her parents. JAM JAMS 2 eggs 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. shortening 2 t. soda 3-4 cups flour It. lemon or vanilla flavoring (We have been told you may add i Tbsp, of Karo syrup to make them more delicious and it is true) Roll in rolls and put in fridge to chill for 2 or 3 hours or over night if you wish. Slice thin. Bake 350’ until light brown. As soon as they are out of the oven, remove from pan and quickly put together with raspberry jam while sti11 warm.
