Gough picked up the pitching win with a five- inning, two-hit shutout effort that Lee McTaggart picked up and finished in the sixth, giving South Chief (1-1) their first win of the championship tournament and dropping Fort McMurray (1-1) back to the .500 mark. Cody threw 54 pitches and only 11 balls. Jeff Ripley also plays on the team and was a great help with his hitting bringing the South Chiefs in control early in the game.
