He was employed at Kainai Industries as a draftsman. • He is survived by his wife Marianne Thomson, one daughter Erin and three stepsons Sean, Brian and Terry Long all of Magrath; his parents George and Dora Thomson of Raymond, one sister Jacquie Lund of Raymond. Gay checked in assorted REGULAR 59C Ralph Shultz Thompson, beloved husband of Mrs. Leona Thompson of 526 16th St. S., Leth­bridge, passed away Saturday, December 8/79 following a lengthy illness. Born in Brewster, Kansas, December 27th, 1891, he came to Canada with his parents in 1903 He resided in the Spring Coulee District where he farmed extensively until retiring to Leth­bridge in 1968. He was a member of the Spring Coulee . United Church, was an elder on the Church Board; was Secretary of the Spring Coulee School Dist. for many years; a member of the Magrath Irrig- . ation Board, the Magrath Hospital Board, and also served for a time on the Cardston Hospital Board. He was a member and past president of the Magrath Lions Club for more than35 years, and also a member of the Lethbridge Lions Club. He was active in community and church affairs all of his lifetime. President John Bourne welcomed the guests following which Irene Ririe took charge of the enjoyable programthat when children of the members entertained. Baking melts the pitch into a nice glaze When the glaze hardens the cones are less messy to handle. The heat also causes tight scales to loosen ^tnd unfold, thus making it easier to wire the cones onto the wreaths or other decor­ations. To bake cones, place them pointed side up on a foil-covered cooking sheet in a 450' oven for about 10 minutes. Eight teams including LCI Rams, St. Mary’s Warriors, Card­ston Cougars, Catholic Central Cougars, Coal­dale's Kate Andrew's Gaels, Winston Churchill Bulldogs, Raymond Commets and Magrath Zeniths competed in the two day event. Cardston Cougars & Magrath Zeniths battled in a suspense filled game which saw Cardston cinch third place for the second year in a row with an 80-68 score in the semi-finals. Scott Bogdan led the Zeniths with 14 points, Quint Passey, Alan Paul and Conan Miller each added 10 points. St. Mary's Warriors captured the consol­ation final for the third straight year with a 67-36 win over Kate Andrews. LCI reached the championship with a 63-49 win over Cardston. Raymond Comets beat Magrath 67-59 to ad­vance to the title game. Brad Sabey scored 19, Alan Paul 15 in a losing cause. Coaldale eliminated Winston Churchill 49-45 and St. Mary's overpowered Catholic Central 42-20 in Saturday's opening game. Friday's opener saw LCI Rams & St. Mary’s Warriors tanle with LCI winning 49-31. Cardston Coungars hit the 100 mark when they overpowered Catholic Central Cougars. Magrath Zeniths & Kate Andrews Gaels tangled in the third game of the evening with the home towners coming up with a 64-37 victory David Brunner scored 17 points, John Scott 15 and Alan Paul 12. Raymond and Winston Churchill went at it in the final game of the evening with Comets coming up with a 78-43 victory. The tournament was the debut for three new Coaches in the League. Magrath Zeniths were under the direction of Dave Lowry while it was an opening night for eoaching duties for Raymond s Roger Baldry and LCI Ram's Joey Shackleford. All three rookie coaches led their teams to victoris in opening performances. A former Del Bonita district resident, Vic Robinson of Sexsmith, passed away Tues­day, December 4th 1979 in a motor accident. He was 56 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, five sons and three daughters. Funeral services were held in Sexsmith Memorial Hall Friday, December 7th with interment in the Emerson Trail Cemetery. Dr. and Mrs. Bob Leishman of Edmonton are the proud parents of a daughter born December 9th in Edmonton. Sharing in their joy are grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Karren and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Leishman all of Magrath. Christmas Holiday Library Hours: December 27th & 28th at the usual time.
