I don’t know if this should read kids where were your parents Saturday night, or parents where were your kids Saturday night? Apparently someone broke into the Seed Cleaning Plant at Milo and climbed onto the roof Once up there they opened several large manhole covers, exposing open bins that are 40ft down. If someone fell into one of these, death would have been certain. Some other vandalism was also done. After this they proceeded over into the spare school bus and sprayed the interior with a fire extinguisher. Next they broke into the County grader shed and turned on all the lights. I guess it doesn’t take much to amuse some people! I am not opposed to people killing themselves but I think they should be more considerate of the people who may be with them at the time. I hope the school bus is thoroughly inspected to make sure there was no mechanical damage done to it. Do you think that people from our community did all this? I would hope not. If, when you read this and you are among the guilty, remember you only die once and your friends will soon forget you. Your family will suffer forever!!! The TOPS 10 Ways To Find Alternate Workouts You’ll Enjoy Think about what might be missing from your current workout routine. Variety, for one thing—most of us crave a little variety now and then. In addition, have you got all the bases covered? That is, do your workouts provide cardio. strength, and flexibility training? T-flke a look ar-ound. You might see someone doing an activity you'c enjoy: golfing, power walking, roller-skiing, even tai chi outdoors in the park. A Ask people you know about their favorite activities. You may learn that your friend In the church choir takes a kickboxing class, or that your babysitter swims every day after school. Lose the “all or nothing” mindset. It’s not necessary to fall in love with a new activity right away; just try it once. An open mind will help you recognize more possibilities. Read magazines on health, fitness, adventure travel, and so cn to see what's hot :n the fitness field. From these choices, pick one or two that appeal to you. Visit specialty stores that market to serious fitness buffs—bikers, runners, soccer players, tennis players, and others. All that cool gear just might get you hooked on a new sport. Go the rental route. Rent a recumbent or tandem bike for an afternoon of pedaling. Try out a pair of snowshoes on a winter walk. Check out the in-line skate scene. Whenever you're on vacation—even if it's just a weekend getaway—stay alert for new activities to try. It's easier to be open-minded in fresh new surroundings. A Local health clubs and Ys usually publish a schedule of activities. Scan these listings every so often. Tag along with a friend who's heavily involved in a sport that’s unfamiliar to you. He or she can provide pointers that will give ycu a head startMILO FIRE AND RESCUE would like to thank Jennifer Gore and all the willing “slaves” and bidders for their generous donation of the Slick-Up Saloon Slave Auction proceeds. $4276.00 was raised! The donation will be used for EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) training for more persons in the Milo community. These responders are called to assist a patient before the ambulance arrives. Milo Fire and Rescue would also like to thank all of those who helped or made donations to the Barbecue and Community information night on May 31.FAMILY HAIRSTYLING X 599-2491 X MILO HOURS TUES - FRI. 10:00-5:30 SAT 10:00-2:00 WED. It is coming on 18 years that Jo-Anne and I have lived in this great little town. Coming along later would be Brett, Katie and Layne. Milo has been and will continue to be 'our home’. The nature of the people of this community is what makes leaving so hard. We could always count on the community for their support and thoughtfulness. We are leaving behind many friends and memories. There is a thought that states “it takes an entire village to raise a child”. There is no question that you, the citizens of Milo have done a wonderful job of raising our three children - Brett, Katie and Layne. Not only have you helped in raising our children, but you nurtured both Jo-Anne and myself. Because of you and your children, I have become the individual that I have become. I’ve always given the students in my classroom my 100% and more. I have done so because I’ve wanted your approval and like any employer-employee relationship, I wanted to make sure that you were satisfied with my workmanship. For myself, it has been like going through my own death but being there to witness the funeral. I am very grateful to all of you that have expressed your sorrow in our leaving, but then adding that you are at the same time happy for us. To the ‘former’ students who have gone out of their way to wish me good bye and express how they were fortunate to have been part of my classes, I thank you for this. I want you to know that I was grateful for having been in your company and that, together, we learned from each other. I ve always believed in, and I’ve always told the students in my company that “learning is a lifelong process . Everyday brings an opportunity to learn something new, no matter how significant or insignificant it may be. The point is to not pass up the opportunity to ’learn’ that new fact, skill, song, etc. During my 18 years in Milo, I continued to learn and grow because of the interaction between ALL the people of Milo (both young and old). Milo has provided me with the opportunity to learn more about teaching, coaching, living, loving and caring. And Milo - you have taught me well! I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best teachers that you will find anywhere - and they have all worked or are working presently in the Milo school. Mrs. Karen Forestell has and will continue to influence me in all my endeavours. Mrs. Forestell role modelled for me professionalism, how to teach effectively, how to work with students effectively, how to care for students and how to give unselfishly. Mrs. Linda Booth was once described by Mrs. Forestell as a master teacher . Mrs. Booth is indeed a master teacher! I know firsthand from working with her and from having my own children working in her classroom. Mrs. Booth knows her language arts and let no student try to misspell or use poor grammar. Mrs. Booth has been my 'sounding board’ over the years and I always looked forward to her MANY ’womanly’ claims. Having had the opportunity to teach (briefly) a grade 1/2 class, I came to realize and ‘really’ appreciate the work that a teacher such as Mrs. Lorraine Kirk puts into her classroom. There is no doubt in my mind that the students who pass through the classroom of Mrs. Kirk, are getting the best that they can get when it comes to the beginning of their school years. There are many others who I have not mentioned but please know that all of you, teachers and support staff, have helped in your own way to mould me into the person who I am today. I leave Milo still giving my 100% plus and I’ll continue to do the same at R.l. Baker School, i he move gives me the opportunity to sit on more committees and shortly, I hope, to continue my own educational pursuits (Masters degree and hopefully a doctorate). You will be hearing of my doings, I’m sure of this. We take possession of our new house in Coaldale as of August 1, 2001. Our address will be Street. So please, if and when you might be in the neighbourhood and passing through, stop in and pay us a visit. We fully intend to come back and visit Milo! After all, the distance between Milo and Coaldale (via Lomond) is only 114 kilometres!! In closing, thank you Milo and community! You are the best and I can’t imagine how any other community could ever replace you.LETTER OF INTENT June 29, 2001 TO: Dave Sletto Employees and Contractors of Buffalo Hills Oilfield Services Ltd.
