Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bennett of Spring Coul­ee and Mr. and Mrs, Ray Depew of Raymond left Friday for a holiday in Hawaii. Mr. Brent Ririe of Kalamazoo, Michigan was a weekend visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Ririe, Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Clark of Calgaiy are receiving congratulations on the birth of a son born Friday, February 10th. Mrs. Clark is the former Kristie Miller, daughter of Mrs. Ethel Miller, The bachelor minister moved to a new church. The first morning in the parsonage, he heard his housekeeper singing, "Nearer God to Thee" over and over as she pre­pared breakfast, "What a wonderful surprise to find you’re such a religious person", he told her warmly, "It’s what I boil eggs by, she said, "three verses for soft, five for hard". The Magrath Merchants captured top honors in the Blood Reserve Invitational Basketball Tournament held in the Senator Gladstone Hall during the weekend when they squeezed by Lethbridge Capri Restaurant by a 62-61 score in the final game. Eight teams took part in the two day event. Members of the Magrath Merchants Basketball team include Jim Cook, Rodney Bly, Dave Lowry, Addie Bourne, Garth Veale Johnnie Mehew, Duane Schaufert, Allan Nalder, Robert Clifton, Wayne Miller and Hans Hansen. Mr, and Mrs. H. C. Austin had as their guests last week his sister Mrs, F. M, Dryden of Saskatoon, Sask, also Mr, and Mrs. Ken Profit of Winnipeg, Mrs, Profit is Mrs, Austin’s neice. Hrst, Ethel Mi 11 er returned to Calgary with her son-in-law Mr, Geriy Clark and children when they were in Magrath to attend the Zine 31 LJS Basketball tournament dur­ing the weekend. MAGRATH PARK THEATRE NEWS; Friday and Sat­urday February 17th and 18th "HARPER" in color, adult, starring Paul Newman and Julie Harris. THINKING DAY PROGRAM - the annual "Thinking Day" Program of the Brownies and Guides will take the form of a Centennial program and will be held this coming Monday, Feb­ruary 20th in the United Church Hall commenc­ing at 7 P.M.
