MAGRATH HOSPITAL AUXILIARY NEWS The May meeting of the M ath Hospital Auxiliary war 3 Id in the Nurses Lounge of the hospital with 15 members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report, showed a bank balance of $437*42. A $25 anonymous donation was received. - Heart Gund total was $310.30» Raymond Auxiliary postponed their May 11th Bake Sale due to graduations and it will now be held May 24th, The Cardston Auxiliary will attend the Magrath Hospital Auy-i ~li ary Tea and Bake Sale. Sewing Convenor Nettie Hillmer reported someone has been hired to do mending. Miniature nurses caps will be the May Tray Favors. The quilt for the May 12 Bake Sale was on display in the Magrath Trading Company window. The Bake Tables and xea were organized and convenors appointed for appropriate tables. Coffee and donuts will be served with a price of 35$ decided upon. Lydia Triscli moved the Auxiliary buy a geran­ium for each hospitalized mother on Mother’s Day. Lydia Brunner seconded the motion. Lydia Triscli was put in charge of purchasing the geraniums. No nominations were accepted from the Magrath Hospital Auxiliary for regional Pres­ident or Vice President. A discussion on a bed "push-a-thon" was held and Jean Cowan moved we challenge Raymond Auxiliary. Elsie Owens seconded iti Irene Gruninger will see about possible arrangementsk Joan Harvey moved the meeting adjourni President Irene Gruninger, on hehalf of the Magrath Hospital Auxiliary, presented a •; deque to Mr. Tcm Beswick, chaiiman of the Magrath Hospital Board, for the payment of the Hi-Lo’ bed recently purbhased for the Magrath Hospital. The ceremony took place Monday, resent with Mr. Beswick for the presentation were Mr. Gerald Leishman, Magrath Municipal Hospital Administrator and Mrs. Grace Tocmer, matron of the Magrath Hospital. As in years past, the Magrath Hospital Auxiliary is proud to offer a scholarship, aid for the first time, this year and in future years, it will be known as the Margaret Long Memorial Scholarship. This $75 Award is available to any student of the current graduating class who will be entering training as a registered nurse. In the case o f more than one applicant, it will be awarded to the student with the highest marks. Appli nations may be submitted to Mrs, Irene Gruninger, President; Magrath Hospital Auxiliary, Magrath, Alberta. A most successful Florence Nightengale Tea and Bake Sale was held in the Magrath Lions Hall Saturday afternoon. This annual event is sponsored by the Hospital Auxiliary who wish to thank everyone who donated, attended or helped in any way with the event. A special "thank you" to Mrs. Sharon Owens for making the attractive posters. Mr. Warren Keith of Lethbridge was the winner of the nylon tricot quilt raffled by the Auxiliary and Mrs. Ireta Matkin won the decorated Mother’s Day cake door prize. CARDSTON SCHOOL DIVISION NEWS RELEASE #10 Members of the Cardston School Division No. 2 Board and Administration met recently with representatives of the Blood Band Council and Government Officials. Many concerns vere aired in an effort to establish better communications and bring about a more effect­ive integrated educational system. It was agreed to arrange future meetings on a reg­ular basis to allow for more exchanges of ideas. The Board approved a landscaping plan for the Lee Creek Educational Centre. This included the purchase of large trees and shrubs which will greatly enhance the area. Permission was granted to the Cardston High School Students Council to purchase a Timing-Scoring Clock for the new high school gym. The Board agreed to pay installation "nd maintenance^ costs. Notice has been r eceived from the Deputy Minister of Education that the Board’s application for accreditation of High Schools has been accepted effective immediately. A short meeting of the Board will be held Wednesday, May 16th at 7:30 P.M. Mr. and Mrs. Nyal Fletcher have returned from a holiday in the U.S. They attended the graduation of their daughter Janet at B.Y.U. in Provo, Utah, and accompanied by their daughter, travelled to Lawrence, Kansas where they visited with their son and daughter­in-law Mr. .and Mrs. Allan Fletcher and family. They also visited in Independence, Mo. Garthage and Nauvoo, Illinois. While in Nauvoo they visited with Tom and Flora Norton who sent back best regards to friends and relatives in Magrath.
