The president and vice president reported on the recent activities of the Chamber. Charlie Matkin reported on his attendance at the Lethbridge Court House re: Federal Constituencies as it is proposed to leave Magrath in the Medicine Hat riding. Charlie advised the Commission that it was felt preferable for Magrath to be included in the Lethbridge Electorial District. Harold Boucher advised the meeting that he and Charlie had spent two days with Mr. Robert Ferguson of the Grain Handling and Transportation Commission. They met with several of the business men of Magrath Glenwood, Hillspring and Cardston districts, also the Reeve of the Cardston Municipality, the Mayor of Cardston and Mr. D. Steed, District Agriculturist. We were informed at Glenwood that there were fifteen loaded cars of grain that had not been moved since the flood, that the elevators are full, that they wondered where they would haul next year's crop. Your chamber contacted the Transportation Department of the Province of Alberta requesting that action be taken to remedy-this situation, we also were in touch with the C.P. Rail at Calgary. We hope to be able to report favorably in the near future. Mr. Ferguson inspected the condition of the rail lines, the lack of weed control and the condition of fences and snow fences and the tracks. We feel his report will be helpful to the producers in our district. Harold Boucher will be attending the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Directors in Edmonton Sept. 9th and will meet with the Cabinet on the 10th.
