This one pictured the church in the background, the minister in'front greeting a young couple with their two children. No doubt a Sunday morning service. If the church is the place to worship, why don’t more members attend? ' Once in our lifetime we felt if a person went to church once on Sunday, that was fair enough, We preferred the morning service - Sunday School. * But of late years the subject matter and the presentation never agreed with us. To illustrate - (Gospel Doctrine Class) Title: "Ancient Prophets of the Old Testament" by ' Sperry, A paper back book of 330 pages. The first 148 pages (The Prophesies of Isaiah). The prophesies are in very small type, probably one quarter of a page, while the author’s comments occupy the remainder printed in bold type. He interprets many of Isaiah’s prophesies as fulfillment, having come to pass on the American continent in the last 150 ydars. Two pages, not 14S, would have been sufficient. Second Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation". Isaiah lived in the dark ages. He believed the sun came up in the morning and went down at'night. Iaaiah is only mentioned a few times in the New'Testiment. Isaiah, nor any one else on the Eastern Hemisphere knew there was an America. They thought the earth was flat. We don’t take any stock in prophesies. No man knows what the morrow will bring. More than sixty years ago we spent part time in a class room studying the life of Christ. The New Testament, The professor’s name was Anderson. We owe much to him for we received an abiding faith in Christ the Lord. He was a capable teacher with few equals, ' ' In the Good Book, St, John 21:15,16,17.verses (Read) — Jesus saith to Simon Peter "feed my lambs" — in the 16th and 17th verses — "feed my sheep". You cannot starve a profit out of a sheep. Jesus knew this. From childhood we have been feeding lambs and sheep. The best food is none too good for lambs and sheep. ‘ , Jesus wanted Peter to preach and teach Christianity and the brotherhood of man, tne things he had seen and heard.' , "For all that I have seen, I trust the Creator for what I have not seen", ' Ralph Waldo Emerson. Mr. Alf Ririe, Wool Producer: Sixty—one years ago we commenced business and we are happy and proud to say that members of the family are still very active in the business. 'What Changes have taken place in these 61 years? Looking at the Calgaiy Herald 01 May, 1905, we note the following: , Mr. L.W, Bick advertises 320 acres of land 10 miles South of Calgary for $7.50 per acre, and 320 acres of land in the Springbank area for $2750,00 Mr, T.D. Bell advertises 640 acres of land 5 miles South of the city for $12.00 per acre (this is now inside the Calgary city limits). , . _ J.T. MacDonald Grocery advertises "mens fine shoes" for $2,50 a pair. Fifty men being hired for a lamber camp at Revelstoke» Wages $1,75 Per day. Board and bunk deducted at $4.50 per week. Special sale of men’s suits at $7.50 ' , . , Enderby Restaurant advertises for waitress, wages $20.00 per month. This letter is just a reminder to ship your wool clips to J.E. Love and Sons or through any of our agents. Love’s paid considerably more for the 1965 clip tnan any ocher company handling Western Canadian Wool. Thank you very much. J.E, Love Feeds Lud. <••••••••••«« __ A farewell testimonial in honor of Elder Donald Wayne Gumej’y son of Mr.and Mrs. Earl Gurney, was held in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Sunday.
