Born in York England she came to Canada with her husband and three eldest children in 1926 settling near Grand Prairie. In 1964 they moved to Magrath. She is survived by twelve children - Ronald of Cherry Grove, Winifred Sterling of Grande Prairie, Mary Lautner of Edmonton, William of Cjetwyn, B.C. John of Edmonton, Dorothy Holtom of Lethbridge, Grace Gagne of Red Deer, Marguerite Lichkowski of Calgary, Wesley of Coalhurst, David of Edmonton, Joan Miehe of Edmonton, and Edith Sims of Calgary; thirty five grandchildren, thirteen great grand children, one sister in England. Funeral services were held in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Monday afternoon • with Bishop Alan Dudley officiating. The family prayer was offered by Ronald Sims. Prelude music was by Charlotte Cietcher who also accompanied the choir in the opening hymn "Rock of Ages" led by Loree Brewerton. Invocation was offered by Bert Gibb. The biography was given by J.A. Spencer. A vocal trio - Bessie Cook, Loree biewerton and Charlotte Fletcher sang "The 123rd Psalm". Speaker for the service was Glenn Fletcher. Closing hymn was "Love At Home" and Clyde Spencer gave the benediction. Postlude music was rendered by Maude Ririe. Honorary Pallbearers were James Sterling, Glen Gagne, Eddie Lichkowski, Nik Lautner and John Holtom. Active Pallbearers were Ronald, Wesley, William, David and John Sims and Hans Miehe. Interment took place in the Magrath Cemetery with Burns Harker offering the graveside prayer. -> — * * j L* <- 11 x? ».’L . 28th e ' was well attended. Voting was unanimous that the Senior Citizens Committee proceed with the taking over of the Old High School for a Senior Citizens Complex, a place to meet and enjoy each other’s company, have games and other forms of recreation. The committee is in iontact with the proper officials for grants to put the building in condition for habitation. We will keeo you advised as to what progress is being made. The Executive of the Magrath & District Chamber of Commerce met at the Civic Building Monday May 3rd Among the items of business discussed was the need of a Nursing Home fo Magrath and District. It was decided to supoort the application of Grandview Nursing Home of Cardston and the Magrath Town Council in this connection. We have been advised by C.P. Rail that it is hoped to resume rail service to Glenwood and Hillspring by the middle of May. The plan for the beautification of Main Street, Magrath, has been received from the Oldman River Regional Planning Commission and will be turned over to Town Council for their consideration. It was agreed that the President and Vice President attend the annual meeting of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce at Jasper on May 16,17,18 as rail road abandonment is on the agenda for further discussion. The Magrath & District Lions Club held their semi monthly meeting on Tuesday which was well attended. It , was decided to have a work meeting Wednesday to endeavour to complete the pre-school playground which is nearing completion. The matter of a speed limit for cars and trucks in this area was discussed and will be referred to Town Council and the Police. Arrangements have been completed for the Circus to be in Magrath Wed. May 26th Tickets will soon be available - $1.50 if purchased prior to the day of the Circus, $2.50 if purchased at the Circus grounds. She had been on the staff of the hospital for some 23 years. Mrs. Toomer has been a most dedicated nurse and matron. J. Golden Snow united in marriage Barbara Gorham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gorham of Magrath and Duncan Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Thompson of Spring Coulee in a double ring ceremony. The bride chose as her attendants for her wedding day her sister Sharon 1 k.son'as Matron of honor, bridesmaids Ruth Tollestrup, Jane Alston and Thompson and flower girls Julie Dudley and Carrie Anderson. Attending the groom as best man was Greg Sheer and groomsmen were Donald Ripley and Berry Gorham. Master Chris Jensen was ring bearer. Following the wedding a dinner for relatives and close friends was held in the Magrath Cultural Hall at 12 o'clock noon with Mr. and Mrs. ^Johnny Thompson as hosts and the Band Mothers serving. Master of Ceremonies was Mr. Gordon Matkin, uncle of the groom. ' A program was presented with Shirley Perry reciting a poem on "Love", Mary Thompson singing a solo accompanied by Marsha Ripley; and Wayne Matkin giving a recitation. Tribute to the bride was paid by Bishop Alan Dudley with the groom responding. Saturday evening a calling reception was held in the Magrath Cultural Hall with Mr. and Mrs. Ian Hamilton, brother-in-law and sister of the groom welcoming the guests. Barbara Heggie attended the guest register and parents of the bride and groom assisted in receiving the many friends and relatives who called to extend best wishes. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen were host and hostess for the occasion and guests enjoyed a buffet style luncheon with Mrs. Bernice Coleman assisted by friends and relatives in charge of luncheon arrangements.
