Born in American Fork., Utah, he moved to Magrath with his family in 1899 o In 1C21 he married Catherine Ela Coombs and they lived in Spring Coulee, Rosemary and Barn- h’Sll. Predeceased by his wife in 1966 he later sold his home and moved into Clearview '•edge at Taber» He spent the past year at the Devon Nursing Home in Lethbridge, During his lifetime he had. been a grain buyer , later taking the position of care­taker of the L.,D«S. Church in Barnwell., He is survived by two daughters; three sons; 16 grandchildren; two sisters Mrso r eo (Emma) Coleman and Miss Alberta Mercer both of Magrath» Funeral services were held Saturday in the Taber L»D«S» Stake Chapel with Bishop Leith Francis officiating. Interment took place in the family plot of the Barnwell Cemetery. Friends were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Suki Murakami who passed away in Coaldale Wednesday, February 2nd at the age of 79 years. She is survived by her bushand Morihei of Coaldale, one daughter in Jlapan; three : -.is Philip of Moose Jaw, Luke of Magrath and George of Coaldale; 15 grandchildren a nd rp-?e great grandchildren. Funeral and Wake services were held Friday in the Coaldale Buddhist Churcho Guests during the weekend at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Noman Cook were their sons­a law and daughters Mr, and Mrs, Bert Zobell and family of Vauxhall and Mr. and Mrs, ■ Hen-inge-n and family of Lethbridge; son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cook family of Calgary who together with Mr, and Mrs» John Cook and family of Magrath .’ p=d celebrate their parents wedding anniversary» Mr:, and Mrs, Floyd Cook also visited with her parents Mr» and Mrs. Doug Bourne.-MAGRATH 'i HADING COMPANY LTD A GOOD PLACE TO TRADE The Committee in charge of the Mag­rath Petition had an appointment with the Attorney General Friday, February 18, 1972. Following a ruling by District Court Judge Clarence Yanosik Wednesday, the Mayor’s office of the Town of Magrath is vacant. In the Magrath town election in Oct­ober, Pingree Tanner was elected Mayor by a single vote over the incumbent Mayor Swen Jensen. Mr. Jensen alleged that some of the ballots cast were illegal and contested the election. Councillor John Brunnejr is acting as deputy-mayor until an election is held. Nomination day for the office of Mayor is Tuesday, February 15th. The Magrath Curling Club annual Bonspiel wound up Saturday with the Gunner Holt Rink of Lethbridge winning the No. 1 Event - the Cardston Central Service Event and trophy. Second in the No. 1 Event-was the Lawrence Lennen Rink of Lethbridge, the Roy Johnson Rink was third and the Harvey Bourassa Rink was fourth. The Harvey Williams Rink of Cardston captured the No. 2 - Alberta Canning Co. Event. Bob Mikado and his crew were second, the Ed Knapp Rink of Cardston - third, and the Earl Francis Rink of Lethbridge won the fourth spot. The No, 3 Event - the Magrath Garage­men’s Event was won by the John Schneyder Rink of Magrath. Placing second in the Event was the Joe Seeman Rink of Lethbridge. Eric Hohm and mates were third and the Steve Kunimoto Rink was fourth. Winner of the No. 4 Magrath Trading Co. Ltd. Event was the Al Lagler Rink of Lethbridge. The Shig Nakagawa foursome were second, Mel Heggie and mates were third and the Butch Sloan Rink of Cardston placed fourth. Registration for Evening Courses being offered in the Cardston School Divis­ion during the Spring Semester will be held February 1-11 under the direction of the principal at the school where each class is assigned to be taught. All classes having a Biaimum of 10 individuals registered will begin operating during the week of February 14th.
