James Bond. 007 is who the Magrath Tadpoles had to hire to find out why our reports hadn't been printed. Some superior sleuthing and a few Grape Crushes later (shaken not stirred) our man Bond discovered why. However, you have to read next week's report, if it gets printed to find out why. Therefore a little recap is in order. Admiral Perry was quoted as saying that in his quest to be the first man to reach the North Pole, he refused to go out in 30 below zero weather. He obviously didn't have that indomitable Inuit pemmican cheek stuffing guide - Walrus "Coach" Barnett or he would have made it six months earlier. It was in such favourable weather that our boys with a cache of whale blubber in their hockey bags headed for that Eastern outpost - Foremost. There with polar bears traversing the ice, seals making new air holes, harpoons whistling overhead, and Huskies howling in the shrieking wing - Jeff "Mario" Ripley notched his first career hat trick. It was later revealed that the shrieking was not the wind but rather his parents praising his name. Shrieks were also heard the next morning emanating from disgusted mothers as they disposed of rancid whale blubber from their son's hockey bags. Foremost 10, Magrath 8. Point getters: Cole Barnett 3-1, Jeff Ripley 3-0, Cole Schneyder 1-0 and Connor Barnett 1-0. On Jan. 13 we played Foremost once again in our rink. The final score was Foremost 10 , Magrath 5. Our point getters were Cole Barnett 3, Cole Schneyder 1, Jeff Ripley 1. In the Tadpoles most recent game, a worthy Cardston team tried a frontal assault, but were repelled by our troops due to a solid defensive core and illustrious pipe stacking (goal tending) heroics by Cole "Gump" Schneyder, Jason "Sawchuk", Ragan and Jonno "Cheevers" Holt. But lest we forget, the star of the day was that hard working, position playing, do as the coach tells you to do, eats his shreddies raw, barbwire chewing hockey hound Kit "Sundin" Folkes. Single handedly he battled his way up the ice side stepping bodychecks, dodging out of control Zambonis, skirting thin ice and rang the twine for his 1st career goal. Kit later commented, "I thought I had a Walrus breathing down my neck, so I just unloaded that puck". Final score Magrath 10, Cardston 4. Point getters: Cole Barnett 3-2, Connor Barnett 2-0, Jonno Holt 1-0, Cole Schneyder 1-0, Casey Hillmer 1-0, Kit Folkes 1-0, Jeff Ripley 1-0, Todd Perks 0-1.
