A common cold, he rules it is, But that's because it isn’t his. ****** THE BEST COLD REMEDY Sipping chicken soup spiced with chili powder, garlic and onions is “the best cold remedy there is,” says UCLA professor of medicine Irwin Ziment, M.D. Chicken soup contains a compound that thins mucus, making it easier to expel. And fiery foods help combat nasal and chest congestion by triggering the release of fluids that dilute mucus. That’s why your eyes water and your nose runs when you chew on a chili pepper or eat spicy Mexican food. Date: Friday, April 28th Time: 7:00-8:00 p.m. . Reader Tips For thick cookies that don't flatten out when you bake them, cream butter & sugar with a mixer, but stir in dry ingredients by hand untill well mixed. * Wax both the inside & outside of your refrigerator with car wax. Spills, stains, fingerprings will wipe off easily. *Does your fork stick to your homemade peanutbutter cookie dough? Dip the tines in cinnamon (or allspice or ginger) first, then press down - effective & tasty too! Q: Why don’t bananas like to sunbathe? A: They have a tendency to peel. Allergies and colds both cause sneezing, stuffiness and a runny nose, but cold symptoms are usually short-lived. If a “cold” lingers more than two weeks or recurs within a short time period, suspect an allergy. Other telltale differences: • Mucus produced from an allergy is thin and dear, not thick and cloudy. • Colds seldom trigger itching and profuse eye-watering, hallmarks of an allergy. kids say the cutest things When my best friend Melissa was a iftfe girl, her older sister Leah was enrolled in ballet classes.
