Parent cooperation in ensuring students attend school whenever possible. Parent cooperation in ensuring students attend school whenever possible is essential. - In an effort to more effectively track absences and reduce truancies, we have established a new system for parental confirmation of absences. Students will no longer bring a written note and receive stamps for admittance. Our new procedure follows and any parents who have recendy had elementary students will see that the procedure is not a npyr one, BUT in the Jr./Sr. High School a call will NOT be made to the home to confirm absences. The new absence procedure is: School policy requires that a student have all absences pre-confirmed with a phone call to 758-3366 stating < the student’s name, phone number, reason for the absence and how long he/she is expected to be absent. This may be done 24 hours a day because there is an answering machine available in f he evenings. If thereis no pie-confirmation by the parent, the absence will be dealt with as a truancy. The SchoolAçt advises that students may be excused from school for illness, medical attention, and family emergeiidieS. Special circumstances requiring several days out of school should always be reviewed with a schooL, H ■ adminiyTrarnr It is expected that most students will be in attendance at least 95% of the time. That means missing school no more than 10 days in a semester. If absences exceed 10, a parent conference will occuriti which the studentand parent will work with administration to formulate an attendance; contract.
