A GOOD PLACE TO TRADE MERCY ME; HOLT TIMES HaVE CHANGED Somebody rummaging about with a lot of old papers when John Wanamaker’s closed its New York store, which had been a landmark for the better part of a century, found a bull­etin posted by the Wannamaker’s management in 1854, "Store must be open at 6,30 A.M. E and remain open until 9 P<-M, the year round. The store must be swept; counters, base shelves and showcases dusted, lamps trimmed, filled and chimney^ cleaned; doors and windows opened; a pail of water and a scuttle of coal must be brought in by each clerk before breakfast if there is time to do so, and attend to customers who cal 1, The store must not open on the Sabbath Day unless absolutely necessary and then only for a few minutes. Any employee who is in the habit of smoking Spanish cigars, getting shaved at the barbershop, going to dances and other places of amusement will most surely give his employer reatron to be suspicious of his integrity and all-round honesty. Each employee must pay not less than $5*00 per year to the church and must attend Sunday School every Sunday, fen employees are given an evening a week for courting purposes and two if they go to prayer meeting regularly. After 14 hours in the store, the leisure titup, must be spent in reading good literature", ' A formier fegrath resident, Orlando Rich of Calgary; passed away Sunday, April 27th at the age of 72 years, Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the late Mr. Rich came to Alberta in 1900 and 1iveri at fegrath and Glenwood before taking up residence in Calgary in 1942. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. John (Gila) Nielsen of Calgary; two Sons Infer of elowna, B.C. and Merlin of Burlington, Ontario; 15 grandchildren; five great grand­children; two sisters Mrs. Jim (Joyce) Harker of Salt lake City, Utah and Mrs. Lloyd (Theta) Sabey of fegrath; a brother Rulon of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife Lucinda in 1957 and a daughter Mrs. feurine Tanner in 1967» Funeral services were held in the Second Ward L.D.S. Church, Calgaiy with Bishop ean Ho Leavitt officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View Memorial Gardens* DEL BONITA 4 H CLUB NEWS The April.meeting of the Del Bonita 4 H Club was held at the Glen Powlesland Ranch on April 12th in the form of a judging and meeting, Three classes of beef cattle were judged followed by the meeting which opened with the singing of 0 Canada after which the pledge was led by Chris Hi 11mor. Roll cal 1 was answered with 27 members present. The Magrath Assembly Hall was beautifully decorated in pink and white with feypole motif for the wedding reception Saturday evening honoring Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Heninger (nee Donna Cook). Welcoming the guests who called to offer congratulations were the bride’s brothers and sisters—in—law Mr. and Mrs. John Cook, formerly of Victoria, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Cook of Eldorado, cask, Miss Joanne Heninger, sister of the groom, was in charge of the guest register. Receiving with the bride and groom were their parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cook of Magrath and Mr, and Mrs. W. D. Heninger of Foremost. At.tA.nding the bride as Matron of Honor was her sister Mrs, Norma Ruth Zobell, Miss Vonna Miller was bridesmaid and little Miss Shannon Cook, the bride's niece was flower girl. The groom was attended by his brothers larry and Grant Heninger, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cook, brother and sister­in- law of the bride, were host and hostess for the occasion. Refreshments were served under the direction of Mrs0 Viola Miller. Mrs. Coral Dudley was in charge of the gift tables. Kitchen arrangements were under the direction of Mrs. Betty Harris, and the beautiful decorations were in charge of Mrs. Viola Mill at, ‘ The bride and groom will make their home at New Dayton during the summer and will resume their studies at Olds this Fall, " . Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harker of Salt Lake City, Utah visited friends and relatives in Mhgrath this week and attended the fun­eral service of her brother, the late Orl­ando Rish which took place in Calgary Wed­nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Mbriyama and daugh­ter Kim of Calgary were weekend visitors at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Len Hillmer. Mrs. Beth Comfort of Creston, B.C, is visiting with her sister Mrs. Zola White­head. Mr. and Mrs. Ifertin Cook and family of Eldorado, Saskatchewan have been visiting relatives and friends in Magrath and Leth­bridge including his parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman ^ook.
