It commenced blooming in June wh. _e Mrs. Bridge was a patient with a broken hip in the hosp­ital. Mr. McBride told Mrs. Bridge the cutting was fron a rose buhh given his mother 60 years ago by the late Mrs. J. E'.' Ririe (who passed away in 1904), mother of Mrs. Bridge, Mrs, Ririe brought roses from Utah in 1899. Her garden of roses (flowers) was one of the beauty spots in the Garden City at the turn of the century. Every year the "cicus comes to town - every year the elephant walks through the streets. But between the time the elephant walked last year and when he walks this year, several hundred thousand new Canadians have appeared on this earth. To those people an elephant is something new - and that is why the elephant walks each and every year", ” That too, is why a dozen or more patriotic and public spirited men and women sponsor a Migrath parade and celebration every year. The races and sports at the park were equal if not better than in previous years. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Erven Loose was the scene of a pretty summer wedding Friday evening when their youngest daughter Carolyn Edith exchanged marriage vows with Leonard Wayne Mehew, son of Mr, and Mrs. Leonard Mehew of Welling.
