And one brought cookies, and I knew that tehe Had made a speoial batch, that day for me. And so it went, they brought their loving gifts, Wrapped up in clean white olothes, so glad to bring Some token of their tender love for.me The glad first-fruits of all their harvesting, Humbled I could have kissed thoir garments’ hem Because so little I could offer.them, And yet as long as prairie flowers grow I shall remember these against my heart, Each loving gift, the thought of all ef them The love of which they were a little part. BASEBALL The Magrath Nine met their first reverse Wednesday night on the local field at the hands of Hillspring by a count of 5 - 3. P, Pedersen's squad displayed some fine baseball for the most part leading the bushmen 3-1 until the seventh. No runs were tallied until the fourth when Sonny Rutten walked, stole second, advanced to third on Dale Toomer’s single, then stole home, Hillspring tied the count in the sixth when Oliver scored on Oliver’s hit. Turner and Sorensen scored in the last half of the sixth but Smith tallied in the seventh when Eleyanech over threw first. Leishman tied the runs in the eighth on a single by Oliver, Oliver scored when the ball got in the sun on a throw from J, Bldm-el to Sorensen, making the score 5-3 where it remained. We have a fine line-up of boys, but slow thinking and careless throwing at times were largely responsible for the outcome. J, Blumel did the offering for the locals holding the visitors to eight scattered hits - a very good performance, while the veteran hurler, Rulon Leavitt, for Hillsprin held our boys to four. George Turner did a fine job of receiving displaying "Gabby Hartnett” tactics at times. Sonny Rutten aovered short beautifully, encouraging and coaching some of his less experienced team mates throughout. John Eleyanech played a good game on the hot corner, We noticed a few spectators observing over -the fence. This of course will not finance a ball club* In spite of the indicated soore it was a very good game and our boys are to be congratulated on their initial performance. B. W.
