Along with Frank Heinisch we had done sone exploring along hillsides and ravines to investigate the feasibility of piping water from a spring to a feed lot, " (Frank spends his summers at the McIntyre Ranch digging trenches and piping water from seeps and would-be springs to troughs for summer and 'winter stock watering.)' We had walked'considerabljr up hill when Mayor Jay Hamilton and Ted Hocking motored to the Ranch, ten miles west of town. They joined in the project and thought the idea feasible. Later they asked if we had read an article in the January Readers Digest on how to extend your life span to 100 or more years. We hadn’t read it, but promised to do so. It is five pages long with subheadings so if you want to live to be a 100 years old, read them. One 'of the subtopias was "regular exercise for all people young and old, healthy or infirm i: They agreed'we lived up to that one. We had previously in company with Mr. Hocking walked five miles in deep snow at night after the truck got stalled in a trench covered over with snow, "Avoid overeating", "avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation"* This had reference to K-rays. "Keep mentally ¡active", etc. etc. A lot of thoughts run through one’s head. We are not so sure that is mental activity. "Obsérve, remember and compare." Mr. and ?trs. Earl Neilson left Wednesday to drive Jean Steele, Jack Rohead and their son Bob to Rexburg, Idaho, where the students will be attending Ricks College. ' "You missed a good Conference on Sunday. Jim Blumell gave a splendid talk." "What did he' say?" "I can’t remember just what he did say." Claude Peterson in the barber shop remarked that he had two hair cuts while in the States on his trip, costing each $2.25. Here the price is 85£. " We may look for a rise in prices. Attention STOCKMEN:- Purchase your ear tags now for Spring. --Hardware Dept, MT. Edgar Johnson, stake president of the L.D.S. Church at Yakama, Wash, attended the funeral of his late uncle J. T. Steele, Monday, Jan. 15th. The Johnson family left Magrath in 1922. Speaking of the funeral service he thought' it was extra long. At Yakama they have a chapel, cost §450,000.00 with about 3,000 members. »'ost funerals last about a half hour, never over one hour lie said. Speaking of funerals, one of our office staff remarked that our late brother Elmer Ririe spoke at most funerals in 'fegrath and he never spent over three or four minutes at the most in eulogizing the life of the deceased person. Those present come out of respect for the dead and the living. They know the life- of the departed from beginning to end. Then why repeat it. Why draw tears from those who mourn. DON’T WAIT When I quit this mortal shore, ' And mosey ’round the earth no more; Don’t Veep, don’t sigh, don’t sob; I may have struck a better job. Don’t go and buy a bright bouquet, For'which you’ll find it hard to pay. Don’t mope around and feel all blue. I may be better off than you. Don’t tell folks I was a saint, Or any thing I ain’t, If you have jam like that to spread, Please hand it out before I’m dead. If you have roses, bless your soul— Just pin one in my buttonhole, While I’m alive and well today; Don’t wait until I’ve gone away. —Selected Mhgrath’s annual Curling Bonspiel is in full swing this week.
