It read as follows: WE, the under­signed, as citizens of Magrath and Dist­rict, and more especially as Descendants of the People who gave their all to pioneer and settle MAGRaTH are OBJECTING to the changing of MAGRATH'S BAY, JULY 24TH, to another day. JULY 24TH has always been and always will be the Day that FAMILIES cong­regate and get together to celebrate and WE wish this TRADITION for July 24th to remain as in the past. CHRISTMAS FUDGE 42 cups of sugar 1/3 lb. of b utter or margarine 1 large tin of Carnation milk 1 lb. of miniature marshmallows 24 oz. chocolate chips 1 tsp. vanilla. 2 cups chopped nuts. METHOD: Boil sugar, butter and milk to­gether until it forms a soft ball in cold water. Remove from stove and while hot, stir in the chips and marshmallows until dissolved, then add vanilla and nuts. Stir well, pour into buttered tin. Let cool and cut in squares. This makes 5 pounds of fudge. Submitted by.Fern Cook. Ladies of St. Joseph1 s C. W. L. treated their husbands to a night out on Saturday. The evening started at Capri Bowl where some tremendous bowling took place. Will do anything the $159.^0 Äarberators do. ONLY $99,95 Magrath United Church Momen held their annual Christmas "Pot Luck" Supper and party Tuesday evening in the United Church Hall'. President Norma Owens extended a wel­come to the ladies present, and offered grace. A most delicious supper was enjoyed with a number of the husbands in charge of the kitchen and serving. Following the supper Mrs, Irene Ririe gave the devotional. Singing of Christmas carols was enjoyed with Miss Sharon Whitt accompanying at the piano. Sharon also played a medley of Christ­mas favorites. A skit " Selling the Family Farm" was presented by Mrsi Faye Bort, Mrs. Phyllis Stearns and Mrs. Eleanor Harrison. Concluding the program was the reading of Christmas favorites by Norma Owens, The 1973 Executive was presented - Mrs. Faye Bort, president; Mrs. Irene Ririe — 1st Vice President, Mrs. Marjorie Tomlinson 2nd Vice President. Mrs, Virginia Hillmer Secretary, Mrs. Phyllis Stearns - Treasurer, Mrs. Margaret Rarick and Mrs. Eleanor Harr­ison, program. The evening was climaxed with the ex­change of gifts distributed by Mrs. Rarick and Mrs. Stearns. In charge of the setting of tables were Mrs. Harick, Mrs, Harrison, Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Nishikawa. The membership fee is $2.00 per person per year, . It is planned to contact all the Senior Citizens in the near future but it would help if you would call at the Civic Building and sign the membership form which we received from the organizer Mr. Paul Rocke. Please indicate your name, address and phone number. An invitation to all Senior Citizens has been extended by the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Club to attend their Christmas Party on December 18th at 2 P.M. at the Golden Mile Drop-In Centre, basement of Southminster Church. There is strength in numbers - it is hoped that the Magrath and District Club will have a membership in excess of 100. We are infoimed that Nobleford, Pincher Creek and Taber have just organized Senior Citizens Clubs. Friends were sorry to hear of the death of a former Magrath resident, Mrs. rtlta Irene Harker, who passed away at Kimberley, B.C. Wednesday, December ¿th. Born August 1st, 1926, in Raymond, she was the daughter of Joseph and Grace Hancock. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, sens Gordon and Russell of Kitimat, B. C., Clayton at home; daughters Joanne Standell of Calgary, Betty Jean Krottner of Kimberley and Susan, Cathy and Karen at home; her father Joseph Hancock of Raymond; sisters Fern Cook of Magrath, Zella Craw­ford of Calgary, Betty Coyle of Lethbridge and Tamili a Brown »£ Raymond; one step­sister Ethel Beeler of Salmon Aim, B.C. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 9th in the L.D.S. Chapel in Kimber­ley with President W. M. Campbell conduct— ing. Relatives and friends from Magrath and district attending the funeral were her father Mr. Joseph Hancock of Raymond, her sister Mrs. Fern Ccok of Magrath, Mrs. Norma Ruth ZuBell of Vauxhall, Mr. John Cook and Mr, and Mrs. Ves Sabey of Magrath. Owing to illness in the family, no party was held but Mr. and Mrs. Nelson received lovely presents, fliwers, and phone calls from their families, cards and good wishes from friends to make it a wonderful day for them. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hansen of Spring Coulee happily announce the birth cf a daughter, Veronica Jane, bom Wednesday, December 6th in the Magrath Municipal Hosp­ital.
