PANTY HOSE WASH BAGS Nylon Jfesh Bags to wash your canty hose in. c REG. $.99 COUNTRY SKIING With the season for cross-country skiing here it is time to give some thought to the food items you can eat while touring the countrysiue. Depending on your mood, this can vary from a light snack eaten in a sheltered area along the way to a sit-down meal of hot soup and steak. 1 Whatever you choose, it is important that you replenish the nutrients and carbohydrates you have expended during your cross country skiing. Liquids are particularly important. The exercise of skiing will cause your body to give off a lot of moisture, and this must be replaced. Liquid should be taken along in your pack, unless you are sure that you can pick kip some along the way. ■Cross country skiing burns off —■ imately 800 calories per hour. There are many easy-to-carry foods available which can be taken along to replace this energy loss. They include peanuts, raisin's, cheese, beefjerky, granola, dried fruit such as apricots or dates, or carefully wrapped fresh fruits. Sandwiches can be made ahead of time from whole wheat bread with cheese, cold meat or peanut butter. Avoid carrying bulky or crushable foods. A hard bread such as pumper-nickle will travel better than soft breads or crackers. Pack a lunch, dress suitably and enjoy the outdoors. Kathy BossA - District Home Economist. A sergeant handed him a questionnaire to fill out. After an hour or so, Sam returned the paper to the sergeant. "You havenjt answered this question," said the sergeant. "Who killed Abraham Lincoln?" Sam said he didn’t know. The sergeant then instructed Sam to go home, think about it and return with an answer the next day. Sam left, but when he got outside, he was mobbed by his friends who wanted to know if he got the job. "Yes, I did," replied Sam, "and I’ve already been assigned to my first murder case!"
