At the closing banquet, guest speaker W. 0- Mitchell of "Jake and the Kid" fame kept his audience in laughter with excerpts from his new book just finished. Next year’s Conference will be held in Toronto in august with President Rev. Doug Laughlin of Calgary. Elma Miller Harker passed, away in Cardston, Wednesday, June 21st at the age of 81 yearso Born in Lehi, Utah, she came to Canada with her parents around the turn of the contury, settling in Magrathn She married Earl Harker in 1911 and they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversaiy in May, 1971o She is survived by her loving husband Earl, five sons Blaine and Doug of Magrathn Golden of.Calgary, Lee and Ted of Lethbridge,- two daughters Mrs. F. R. (Ruth) Barber of' Ca. ifornia and Mrs. Wilson (Jean) Woodger of Montana; 34 grandchildren and 23 great grand children., She was predeceased by one son Blair who was killed in action overseas«, . Funeral services were held in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Saturday, June 24th with Elshop Mark Dahl officiating., The family prayer was offered by Burns Harker. A former Magrath resident, Ardath 'Walker, passed away in Cardston, Wednesday, June 21st at the age of 64 years. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Charles Walker of Cardston; three daughters Mrs. Ronald (Verda Jean) Cosgrove of Lethbridge, Mrs. Gary (Charlene) Conrad of Pincher Creek and Mrs. Stan (Ardene) Bishop of Calgary; eight grandchildren; two sisters Mrs, Carl (Verda) Peterson of Price, Utah, and Mrs. Gordon (Caroline) Begg of Calgary; two brothers George Turner of Raymond and Fred Turner of Taber. Born in Paris, Idaho, she came to Canada with her parents in 1903. She married Earl Neilson in 1918. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1968. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Earl; four sons Blaine and Kay of Magrath, Ken of Cranbrook, B.C. and Bob of Lethbridge; two daughters Mrs. Norman (Melva Christensen of Magrath and Mrs, Bert (^earldene) Jensen of Lethbridge; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters Mrs, Glen (Vera) Lathrop of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Virgil (Drucilla) Connor of Lethbridge, and Mrs, Karl (LaRee) Dahl of Salt Lake City, Utah; four brothers Wil 1iam Passey of Magrath, Hugh Passey of Vancouver, Cliff Passey of Taber and Joe Passey of Lethbridge» She was predeceased by one infant son Merlin. Funeral services for the late Mrs. Neilson were held in the Magrath L.D.S. Chapel Monday afternoon, June 26th with Bishop L. B, Tanner officiating. The family prayer was offered by Dr. Barrie Steed. Mrs, Maud Ririe presided at the organ for the prelude and postlude music. Mrs. Gladys Sheer attended the guest register and ushers were Don Johnson and Roy Toomer. The opening hymn by the choir was "Not Now But In the Coming Years" accompanied aJ the organ by Mrs. Afton Keeler with Mrs. Gean Wheeler chorister. Invocation was offered by Burns Harker. The biography of Mrs. Neilson was given by Blair Sabey and speaker for the service was Calvin Alston. Bishop L. B. Tanner sang as a vocal solo "A Perfect Day"o The closing hymn by the choir was "®bide With Me ’Tis Eventide*’ with Eugene Dahl offering the benediction. The many beautiful floral tributes were carried by members of the Relief Society and friends. Pallbearers were Stan Toomer, Floyd Toomer, Ves Sabey, Howard Toomer, Dale Toomer and Phil Sheer. Tom Karren offered the graveside prayer. Interment took place in the Magrath Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stearns wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their son David and Miss Joanne Crookshank of Quinell, B,C.
