| Summary: | Tato práce se zabývá jednou z nejdůležitějších a nejúspěšnějších klamných operací druhé světové války, nesoucí kódové označení Fortitude (statečnost, odvaha). Tato diverzní akce měla za úkol zmást Němce a znemožnit jim přesně určit místo a čas vylodění Spojenců. Fortitude byla součástí krycí operace Bodyguard a hlavním cílem bylo přesvědčit německé vrchní velení, že k invazi dojde v Norsku (Stavanger, Narvik) a v oblasti Pas de Calais. Kvůli tomu byla operace rozdělena na dvě části, tedy na Fortitude North a Fortitude South. Autor popisuje jak operace probíhala, vysvětluje, co stálo za úspěchem celé akce a objasní, jaký význam měla pro operaci Overlord. Zároveň autor uvádí celkový vztah mezi těmito operacemi a analyzuje, zda a do jaké míry operace Fortitude usnadnila průběh operace Overlord. Obhájeno This work analyzes one of the most important and successful deceptive operations which occured during the Second world war. The main task of this diverse action (codenamed Fortitude) was to confuse the Germans and prevent them from accurately determining the place and time of the Allied landing. Fortitude was part of the cover operation Bodyguard and the main objective was to convince the German high command that the invasion will occur in Norway (Stavanger, Narvik) and the Pas de Calais. Because of this, the operation was divided into two parts, namely Fortitude North and Fortitude South. The author describes how the operation was going, explains what was behind the success of the whole event and explains what importance it had for Operation Overlord. At the same time, author presents the overall relationship between these operations and analyzes whether and to what extent Fortitude has facilitated the operation of Overlord.
