The authors, who are themselves representatives of the community as they have the first-hand experience, serve as the main source for the textual analysis, which is then compared to the historical facts. Furthermore, the thesis targets the feminine perspective concerning the fact women were going through a double-discrimination being women and African Americans. Thus, the basic aim is to capture the change of the position of the Blacks in the American society and relationship between the majority and minority pre-eminently in the eyes of common Afro-American woman.
