Description
Summary:The painting uses the color compliments yellow and purple to create an optical vibration. There is no ground, no vantage point, and no context that defines space. The effect is a kind of astral floating electric image. 2009 UW Libraries Student Purchase Award The image was sketched in a lucid state while listening to music. It was discovered later that the sketch offered a good opportunity for a color experiment. It also draws on inspiration from Inuit art at the Denver Art Museum. The artist was aware of the way our eyes interpret color. Our eyes can only process one color to its complement at a time. Color complements edge to edge result in a visual shock.
