Description
Summary:August 6, 1931. Dickson [Dicksons] Fjord. Extreme inner end. In background; range of mountains forming western side of Left Valley, of which L.A.B.'s Curry-comb Peak is N.W. point. The snow-patches shown here (at southern and of Left Valley) are same as in photos 27-1-13; 27-1-14 & 27-1-12. In foreground on right; southern extremity of mts. [mountains] which form eastern side of Kjerulfs [Kjerulf] Fjord at Kaiser Franz Josef Fjord [Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord]. On slope above (right edge of photo) is where L.A.B. stood at 4:55 P.M. on August second. See photos 27-1-22; 27-1-21; 25-G-4 & 26-H-8. In foreground; Hisinger Glacier at extreme inner end of Dickson [Dicksons] Fjord. L.A.B. landed on shore of southern side (left) of Hisinger Glacier and went to N.W. slope of L.A.B.'s Scoop Mt. See route on L.A.B.'s Map August 6th. We encountered no large icebergs in Dickson [Dicksons] Fjord. The one in the foreground was as large as any of them. Photo taken from motor-boat looking W.S.W. Is cleft in face of glacier same as seen in right of nanatak in photo 28-H-18?
