Description
Summary:L-9-20 August 13, 1931. Antarctics harbor, N.E. Scoresby Land. In background, mountains forming west side of this harbor. Hut "Bakkehuset" of More-Gronlands Expedition (photo shows back and S.E. side of it). On left of hut is sledge on which is a dead muskox. See L-9-22. In foreground, skins of muskox. Ambakk and Sulebak of above expedition, who had wintered 1930-1931 in this hut and whom we met here. Only the meat of muskox is used by the hunters for food for themselves and their dogs! These skins with hair of finest camels-hair-like softness and quality, are just discarded instead of being used in fabrics! Photo taken looking N.W.
