Summary:Montgomery will review the evolution of the Pacific salmon. He will compare the current Pacific salmon decline to previous Atlantic salmon declines in England, Scotland, and New England. He will focus on harvest, hydro, and habitat as the keys to understanding these declines. Finally, he will suggest that one of the few strategies that might work over the long run would be to create a network of Salmon Sanctuaries by restoring forested river corridors along river floodplains.
