Description
Summary:Instrumental data from meteorological and geocryological stations of the former USSR indicate that there is a clear tendency of climate warming by 2-3.5°C in most regions of Yakutia over the last century, resulting in cryolithozone degradation. The share of forest vegetation in the biogeochemical and hydrological cycles under cryolithozone conditions is a question of not only theoretical but also practical implementation following the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol by Russia. The goal of this paper is to assess the main parameters of the carbon and water cycles in the forest ecosystems of cryolithozone.
